Over the weekend was the International Esthetics, Cosmetics and Spa Conferences. With thousands of products on the conference floor and hundreds of education classes available, the students of Mandalyn Academy couldn't stay away.
The conference highlighted products from face polishes to spa machinery and everything in between. Students were educated on the latest gadgets and hottest products.
At Mandalyn Academy, we encourage our students to learn as much as they can in and outside of school. We encourage them to question, feel and touch. This is what makes an excellent esthetician and an exceptional esthetics and cosmetology school.
It was a fast and tiring weekend, but the girls made professional contacts and learned how to enhance and enjoy their esthetics career.

My girl likes to party all the time at.............. Mandalyn Academy. Of course we strive to make your spa experience serene and tranquil, however we do like to have fun. And this week some lucky girls had the privilege to celebrate their birthday at Mandalyn Academy. As one of the premier esthetics schools and the newest hair schools in Utah, Mandalyn Academy tries to cater to their clients needs. 14 glitter tattoos, 14 nail polishes and 14 makeup applications later we had a very loud, very cute, and very giggly party. I would venture to say, it was a raging success!!!!!

Mandalyn in the community: Breast Cancer Awareness

 

In the month of May there are many reminders about our lives. Spring brings us the bounty of flowers and sunshine. It reminds us of warmer days and longer nights to come. And in Utah May also brings us the "Race for the Cure" a time to think of those we lost, those that continue to fight and those that survived breast cancer.

Mandalyn Academy is an esthetics and cosmetology school in Utah that not only develops and nurtures strong professionals, it nurtures strong and caring students as well. Twice this spring, a group of students has been allowed to attend some of the cancer support groups in the area. We had the pleasure of performing mini facials, hand and arm massages and to teach the women how to pencil and draw in their eyebrows. Not often do these women get a moment of pampering and Mandalyn Academy was grateful to be able to participate. We hope that the patients involved felt pampered, but just as important was that our students were able to talk with and serve some amazing women.

During one of the events, one of our students was able to meet a 15 yr old girl named Paula. Paula was a breast cancer survivor of sorts, since her mother was diagnosed with breast cancer just a year ago.  After talking with Paula it was quickly discovered that she lived with tremendous guilt, guilt that when her mother was diagnosed that she shut down. She didn't feel that she was there for her mother when her mother needed it most. By the end of the discussion is was evident that not only does breast cancer challenge the lives of the diagnosed, but it equally challenges those that love them. I am glad to report that Paula is feeling better about her role in the family, she is working harder to assist and support her mother. She wants to become a doctor when she gets older and hopes to bless the lives of women just like her mother. Thank you Paula for sharing your story. It is stories like these that make us each stronger.

Mandalyn Academy Right Now- Do you know your facial muscles?

Each day at Mandalyn Academy something new and exciting happens. As one of the premier esthetics schools in UT and soon to be one of the hottest cosmetology schools in UT, we need to keep our education fresh and intriguing. That is why we have some of the best instructors and students in the state. That being said, I thought you might enjoy a glimpse of what is happening in the school right now.

Today the students are mastering their knowledge of anatomy, more specifically the facial muscles. So of course when you study anatomy, you automatically think of pinning the tale on the donkey, or in this case the student, don't you?

How this works is the students have labels for the different facial muscles and the face of their partner. The student labeling the muscles has to do so with their eyes close, the student volunteering their face for the labeling  is trying to give hints to the name of each muscle, then allows her partner to stick the label to her face. Does that make sense? Well if not, I will let the pictures do the talking.....
